Steve Pizzella

Steve was born and raised in Bayonne, and now hails from Point Pleasant on the Jersey shore. He began playing accordion at age 7 and guitar in his early teens. Steve has been the founder and leader of several bands since the 1970s, most notably the Sunset Band, which performed at banquets through north Jersey during the 80s and 90s. Now known as Sunset Soundz, the band continues to perform, not only at banquets, but also clubs and outdoor festivals. Steve is also co-leader and musical director for the Bayonne Senior Orchestra, which caters to seniors and features music from the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s. During the 90’s Steve played Latin percussion with the Jersey City Music Educators concert band. In the Main Event Big Band he is reunited with bassist Bob Corbisiero who was a member of Steve’s Bayonne based “US & Them” band during the 70s.
