Martin Hoff

Martin Hoff

Marty was born in New York City but moved to New Jersey at seven years old. He tried a few different instruments like drums and clarinet briefly before settling on the trumpet in the 5th grade. Trumpet took Marty through grade school and into high school where he developed a love for jazz and the jazz rock sound of Chicago and Blood, Sweat and Tears. Because of the influence of his jazz saxophone playing dad (Dorsey Bros., Glenn Miller, Maynard Ferguson), Marty decided to switch to sax in college. Marty dedicated 30 years to music education, all the while playing the sax in a wide variety of jazz and rock ensembles. Now retired from teaching, Marty has become a full time musician, playing in five bands and subbing and/or sitting in with several more.
