Stephen JusticeStephen Justice is a trombonist from Pensacola, Florida. Since moving to the New York Metropolitan area in 2015, Stephen has maintained a busy schedule as a free-lance musician. He has performed and recorded with many groups, including the Mingus Big Band and the Gil Evans Orchestra, and can be heard performing frequently at venues throughout New York City, such as The Carnegie Club and Swing 46. In the summer of 2013, Stephen was a member of the Disneyland All-American College Band. Also an active composer and arranger, Stephen was commissioned by Harvard University to arrange five pieces for Cassandra Wilson and the Harvard Big Band. This music was premiered in 2017 at the concert, “Women inn Jazz: Celebrating Cassandra Wilson”. In addition, Stephen is an experienced educator. He offers private lessons in Trombone, Tuba, Trumpet, and Jazz Improvisation. Stephen is on faculty at Andy’s Family Music Center in Livingston, NJ, Schmeeds Music in Whippany, NJ and also teaches from his home in Jersey City. Stephen holds a M.M. in Jazz Studies from Rutgers University and a B.M. in Jazz Studies from the University of North Florida. He has studied trombone with Conrad Herwig, Dave Steinmeyer, and Clarence Hines. |
